Volunteer Days at Shanbally Farm
These days will be led by our growers Heiko Klee and Briain Walsh. The day will involve getting hands on experience with the medicinal plants on the farm, in the walled garden and in the polytunnels. The work will be varied including hoeing, potting on plants weeding and harvesting crops. The work will be weather dependant.
Volunteers are welcome to take home veg and salad from the gardens.
We currently grow 100+ medicinal plant crops on the farm and harvest from a number of native medicinal plants and trees on the 200 acres of Shanbally estate.
Shanbally House is currently under restoration, due to be completed this year. The walled garden and lawns are also undergoing landscaping this year. We are establishing Shanbally house as a centre of excellence for herbal medicine where we will be conducting additional training for herbalists, doctors and other health care professionals. We will also be opening the house to the public to educate adults and school children on herbal medicine in Ireland, historical and current.
