Chemistry:

Rich in flavonoids–rutin, hyperoside and isoquercetin, triterpenoid saponins. Rich in mucilage–8% made from polysaccharides. Phytosterols. Pyrrolizidine alkaloids. Tannins, bitter glycoside, vitamins–the leaves are rich in vit. C, zinc,inulin.

Main actions:

anti-tussive

Other Actions:

expectorant, anti-catarrhal, astringent, nutritive, anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory, demulcent.

Dosage:

tincture 0.5-2ml TDS (Recommended for external use only due to pyrrolizidine alkaloids. )

Safety:

Not in pregnancy, breast feeding due to pyrrolizidine alkaloids.

Use for short periods only
