Chemistry:

Volatile oil ½ – 1% containing at least 45% free menthol, menthone, pulegone, methalone, limonene; tannins, flavonoids – rutin(strengthens broken capillaries/veins), menthoside, tocopherols, carotenoids, betaine, choline, azulenes, rosmarinic acid, tannins(bind to iron in food and can absorb it.

Main actions:

Carminative, Cooling Diaphoretic, Bile secretion, Reduces muscle spasm, Anti-septic.

Other Actions:

Diaphoretic (peripheral vasodilator with a paradoxical cooling effect), anti-spasmodic, digestive, choleretic, anti-emetic, stomachic, stimulant, anti-pruritic, anti-inflammatory , aromatic, nervine- mild sedative, anti-microbial,  anti catarrhal, antitussive, antiparasitic, analgesic and antipruritic. Inhibits lactation

Dosage:

1 – 5ml TID

Safety:

Avoid in Gastroesophageal reflux, may aggravate it. Contraindicated in acute gall stones.
