Shanbally House Restoration

Under the skilled workmanship of our in-house craftsmen Mick Cleary and his son Christy, Shanbally House Georgian Restoration makes it as charming a structure as was first built, around 1770.

Who is responsible for Shanbally House Georgian Restoration?

Father and Son, Mick and Christy Cleary have risen to the job.

At 84 years of age, Mick from Crannagh, Templetuohy is an expert in renovating old Irish houses and castles and has a particular interest in the Georgian era.

Some similar houses he has worked on include Eden Vale in Ennis, Co. Clare, Emo Court in Co. Laois and Inch House in Co. Tipperary.

To date, Mick has delicately hand-moulded the quaint coving that can be seen on the ceilings of our hallway, Ante Room, Drawing and Dining Rooms and overhead the stairwell.

Just recently, Christy installed the ornate fan light and side light windows containing original glass at the main entrance.

As house renovations steadily continue, we look forward to bringing Shanbally back to it’s original Georgian style.
